Like you, we think about doing just about everything. And . . . like you, we settle for doing just a few. One of the things we do is tour the country on our Concours. We've been lots of places on it and other bikes. Maybe you'd like to know what it feels like to wander around the country on a motorcycle. We used to wonder too.
We live out in the middle of the USA, in Kansas City, Missouri. At the time we took this trip, we lived in the small city of Grandview, Missouri, a suburb of Kansas City. Sounds boring doesn't it? Well, one of the many good things about living out here on the prairie is that there are very few places in the lower 48 states that you can't drive to within 2 or 3 days. Our digs in the center of the country allow us to tour the U.S. a bit at a time. Another way of putting it is that we have to travel through more than a few miles of prairie before we get anywhere that doesn't look like the place we just left.
In 1993, we made one of our favorite
motorcycle trips, a ride across some of the central prairie, over
the river, through the woods, and past grandmother's house to
the great northwest. It was a hell of a trip.
Let's START
in the small prairie city where we used to live,
Grandview, Missouri, a suburb of Kansas City. We head west, lookin'
for the sun. Didn't take long to find it; there it is, right in
my eyes.
You might want to know that there are only four pages for this tour and you're on one of them. So this isn't a long drawn out deal that'll take your whole day. There's some good photos (thanks to our trusty OM-1) and it'll be worth your while. We made thumbnails for most of 'em, so stay with us.
If you're interested in a great motorcycle, or if you'd like to learn more about our motorcycle and a group of other people who ride 'them, point to Rick Hall's page for the Concours Owners Group. Gotta a question about the Concours, the ZG-1000, or the GTR?
Ask Rick. If he don't know, he knows someone who will.
