Monthly
Second Saturday Rides...
|
|
Monthly Second Sunday Breakfast in CANCELLED The Second Sunday Breakfast Ride to Luella is no longer. Organizer Bo Griffin says he never had
more than a couple of Concours riders show up, and he has since left the fold for a Big Mean GS Machine, aka BMW Adventure type thing.
We're sure he won't mind if a Concours rider or two shows up every now and then, in case you'd ever like to check it out. |
|
That leaves the Second Sunday in the DFW area wide open, y'all! How about someone starting a new traditon? |
Be sure to send in details of any rides you want posted here

Fri
March 14th thru Sunday March 16th Ted Adcock has made arrangements
for "Alpine, Ride the Big Bend Twisties". Friday
arrival is recommended as there are ""lots"" of miles to
ride, sights to see, and twisties to enjoy....(For
those that have the time, a Thursday arrival is even better). Side note: For
those that are coming thru When you call
the Motel, mention my name, and the C.O.G. group. http://www.alpinetexas.com/lodging.html Banquet: "There ain't no stinkin' formal banquet". BUT,, I'm making arrangements for the Steak
House on that Saturday night so we can all get together to eat, drink?, swap
lies and visit. (I'll need a list of
who wants to meet us there so I can arrange enough seating). Contact Ted Adcock at ted@concours.org

The
Wildflower Ride is Back !!! Date:
Join us for some fun in the Texas Hill Country! I have reserved
20 rooms at the River Inn. |
|
Tax
Relief Ride !!!
Date:
Location: The Ozark Inn, Ozark, AR There's nothing prettier, no better weather, than spring in Arkansas! Mid-April is the height of spring, and for those of us who have agonized over the tax deadline of April 15th, or who have already gotten a refund and blown it, or even for those of us to whom it doesn't much matter, the weekend after is a good time to unwind. No matter where you live, a run into the Arkansas hills is just the thing to help shake off the winter doldrums and get your riding mode dialed in. Ozark, Arkansas http://www.ozarkarkansas.com/ is sandwiched between the natural Arkansas River and the man-made river of machines that is I-40. It's halfway between Fort Smith and Clarksville. Arkansas Highway 23, the famous Pig Trail http://www.ozarkmotel.com/the-pig-trail-ozark-ar.php runs right through it. Situated at the junction of US 64 (aka Commercial Street, the main drag through Ozark) and AR 23 is the Ozark Inn. This is where Concours riders from all over will begin to gather on Thursday evening, April 17th, for two or three days of swooping and leaning over the convoluted roads of central and north Arkansas.
We have 10 rooms reserved at the Ozark Inn. There are plenty more rooms (30 in all) available if needed, but we need to hurry! The Drop Dead Date for a guaranteed room is March 30th! The 10 rooms we have blocked are all 1 King Bed rooms and are priced at $45.00 per night for one or two people (plus the usual taxes, of course). The other rooms are of various configuration - 2 Queens, etc. - and will be priced about the same. Contact them at:: 1711 West Commercial St. (Hwy. 23 and 64 Junction) Phone: (479) 667-1500 email: olmsteadrf@aim.com Be sure to mention COG - or Tax Relief Ride - when calling. There's a great little country-cookin' restaurant on the premises for breakfast (and dinner, if you want), and several other good eatin' places nearby. Fashionable Adult Beverages are sold just down the street. The proprietors of the Inn are very motorcycle friendly and are prepared to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. Not that we'll spend a lot of time there - most of the daylight hours will be spent out on the road! Ozark is a great jumping-off place for a number of great rides. Most of us will probably opt for a run up the Pig Trail, followed with jaunts up near the Missouri border with lunch in a place with either great food or a great view, or both. If our legs are long enough we may go far enough east to follow the ground track of one of the recent tornadoes. Others may wish to tour the high points of the Natural State. Mount Magazine is a mere 34 miles from Ozark, Mount Nebo only 40 more, and another 16 miles will put you on top of Petite Jean. Lots of twisties in between, great views from the summits. If any of you bring non-riders with you who have their own wheels, they may want to make this little drive while we're out scraping pegs. Tell 'em to be sure and bring a good camera! Yes, it's going to be a fun weekend in Arkansas! I plan to arrive in Ozark Thursday evening around sundown. I'm going to do the Mount tour on Friday, maybe saunter down Hot Springs way. I'll be back in Ozark in late afternoon to welcome all the Friday arrivals and renew some old acquaintances and hopefully make some new friends. |

Southern Forest Heritage Museum Ride
Date:
Destination: Southern Heritage Forest Museum in Long Leaf, LA Departure Point: McDonald's restaurant at 150 Lobdell Highway in Port Allen, LA.
Maps will show the road as LA Highway 415. After the museum tour a short ride for lunch will bring us to Lea's Lunchroom in Lecompte. They are well known for their "pies" and baked ham. Lea's is approximately 3 miles from exit # 66 on I-49 and at this point everyone can choose their destination to home. On the return, I will be doing a mostly back road run into the Baton Rouge area should anyone wish to ride along.
