Poudre Canyon Ride |
Saturday, June 2 was a wonderful day for the (sort of) annual Poudre Canyon Ride. Five Concours riders (and a pillion) showed up: Jim Williams, Steve Cook, Dwight Bradshaw, Larry Dunlap (with his son Jason) and ride leader Doug Dempsey.
Doug's ride notes gave everyone a good idea of what to expect and helpful safety information about road and traffic conditions.
The riders met at Ted's Place, the landmark gas station/convenience store at the junction of US-287 and CO-14, in bright sunshine and 65F weather. Up the road at 10,000'+ Cameron Pass, the temperature had only reached 45F. In the twisties for the first 30 miles or so, there was a little bit of traffic, but past the first break sight under the trees at Arrowhead Lodge, traffic thinned out considerably for the rest of the ride to Walden and lunch at the River Rock Café.
Four of the five bikes returned home down Poudre Canyon, while one went south over Willow Creek Pass to intersect with US-40 just west of Granby.
If you weren't there, you missed a wonderful day and wonderful ride!
