The following is a rough draft of the rides planned for the 10th Anniversary COG National
scheduled for Avon, CO, August 5 - 9, 1996
Mark Folsom, member #260 and the AAD for Colorado, is responsible for the route and the color narration. As you'll see, he has done an outstanding job, and I wanted to share it with you now. It will be part of the rider package provided at the rally.
The four primary rides are designed for those wanting mostly a riding experience! Each of the four rides is demanding due to the distance, the nature of the twisting mountain roads, and the unusually high elevation. Rally HQ is over 8,000 feet, and will be going up from there! At this elevation, afternoon rain showers are always possible. The six half day rides are for those wanting a more relaxed schedule.
These are self guided tours where you can ride at your own pace and stop when and where you choose. We will have a designated lunch stop for the four long rides where we can regroup. For those interested, we will stage each morning and 'officially' depart by 8:00 a.m.
Tuesday morning, Kawasaki will be sponsoring a breakfast, giving me an opportunity to introduce our industry guests, etc. - so you'll know who you're talking to!
The banquet is still planned for 'early evening' Wednesday after our Performance Riding Seminar conducted by Nick Ienatsch and the staff from Sport Rider magazine - at which time we'll also hear from Kawasaki, USA, etc. And yes, there will be lots of serious door prizes!
There are a few condos left, but you better hurry! This is a one time Rally you can't afford to miss! The Concourier will be out the second half of June and will contain additional information.
