Explore the network of trails northeast of Buena Vista, which tend to be sandy decomposed granite with some fairly
easy stream crossings. Located in the "banana belt" at a lower altitude so the roads most likely will be snow-free
by June. (Your results may vary.) Take your camera and stop for the views of the Collegiate Peaks.
Directions

- From downtown Buena Vista, north on Colorado St, which becomes CR-371.
- Continue north through the three old railroad tunnels, then return south to CR-375.
- Follow CR-375 to CR-375A which turns into CR-373.
- Follow CR-373 and veer left onto FR-311 (Sevenmile Road).
- Follow CR-311 east toward Trout Creek Pass on US-285.
- If you are "bagging passes", turn north on FR-309 for a side trip to Salt Creek Pass. (Located at the cattle guard.)
- Sevenmile Road is documented in "Guide to Colorado Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails, Vol 1, by Charles A. Wells.
- The "Colorado Road & Recreation Atlas" also shows many of the other connecting roads that wander
all over the area.
